Hekani Jakhalu becomes the first woman MLA in Nagaland
Hakani Jakhalu, a lawyer-activist from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), BJP's ally in Nagaland elections, created history by becoming the first-ever woman MLA. This is the first time a woman won the Assembly elections in Nagaland's history of 14 Assembly elections since its creation.
