Centre opposes petitions for same-sex marriages in SC

The Centre has opposed petitions for giving recognition to same-sex marriages lying pending before the Supreme Court. The Centre said the matter should be left to the legislature. It also said that the SC interfering in the personal law system would have consequences and cause havoc in the delicate balance of personal and societal laws.
